Latakia is a port town in the west of Syria. Due to its great history, the city saw through times the rise and fall of many different civilizations. From the Roman empire, to Byzantium times, the city also belonged to Antiochus’ principality during the crusades, right before falling back into the hands of Mamelukes during the Ottoman Empire.
Thanks to this tremendous past the museum, that is located in the heart of the city, bears an important collection of antique objects coming from all surrounding areas.
There, Iconem mainly focused on the outside of the building where many roman sculptures can be found. That is why multiple objects were scanned outside in their environment. Those sculptures are exposed under the massive arches that composed the façade of the museum.
The pictures we obtained on site, enabled us to create 3D renders of different art pieces as we can see in the photo below.
